UCD-OFM C 11. Paper.
Letter of permission in French issued on 28 October 1628 signed by the Archduchess Isabella, allowing the captains of Irish fishing-boats harboured in Sant Vliet to send two tones of salted fish to St Anthony's College as alms for the month of November 1628. The document provides an example of the practical ways in which the Irish friars at Louvain were able to draw support from those Irish who traded or worked overseas. Irish soldiers in regiments in Spanish Flanders also contributed resources for the upkeep of the college.
