UCD-OFM A 3. 12th century (originally part of Book of Leinster). Vellum.
The ten leaves containing the Martyrology of Tallaght were once part of the Book of Leinster. The text, which details the feastdays of saints according to the day on which they died, was compiled in the monastery of Tallaght, Co. Dublin in the early ninth century. Mícheál Ó Cléirigh acquired the folios from James Ussher, Protestant archbishop of Armagh, possibly during his visit to Leinster in 1627. They were used by Mícheál and Cú Choigcríche Ó Cléirigh for the two versions of the Martyrology of Donegal.
Brought to Louvain by Mícheál Ó Cléirigh they were consulted by John Colgan for his Acta Sanctorum (1645). The folios were in Colgan's room at his death in 1658. They remained in Franciscan hands until transferred to University College Dublin in 2000. In the 2007 exhibition they were re-united for the first time since the 1620s with the rest of the Book of Leinster.
